Editorial Policy

At Face Dragons, I’m committed to publishing content that’s practical, honest, and rooted in real experience, while also being supported by trustworthy research.

This policy outlines how content is created, reviewed, and maintained, so you know exactly what to expect when you read anything on facedragons.com.

Independence and Transparency

Face Dragons is a 100% independent publication. I do not accept payment in exchange for coverage or product placement. All opinions are my own and based on my real-world experience and testing.

Some posts may include affiliate links. When they do, they are clearly disclosed, and they never affect my editorial judgment.

Corrections
I aim to keep all content accurate, current, and useful. If you spot an error, outdated recommendation, or anything misleading, I welcome your feedback. Verified corrections are typically made within 72 hours and noted in the article when relevant.

I welcome your feedback. Please get in touch here.

How Content Is Researched and Written

I only write about topics I have direct, firsthand experience with. I don’t repackage advice I’ve found online. Everything you read here reflects systems I’ve used, workflows I’ve built, and principles I’ve applied in the real world.

To deepen the value of each article, I incorporate external research when helpful, including:

  • Peer-reviewed academic studies
  • Books I’ve personally read and annotated
  • Industry experts (such as David Allen for GTD)
  • Credible data or original sources (not secondhand blog quotes)

When I make a factual claim, I either:

  • Know it from professional experience, or
  • Link to a credible external source to support it

This is done via inline citations, clickable links placed directly within relevant sentences for easy verification.

Peer Review & Editing

All content is self-reviewed and edited before publication, and many articles are also peer reviewed by subject-matter experts in relevant fields (e.g. productivity, software, martial arts, education).

Where appropriate, I may also use AI-assisted tools for clarity or structural help, but every final draft is fully written and verified by me.

Content Updates & Accuracy

Posts are reviewed regularly to ensure they stay accurate and helpful. I update content when:

  • Tools change or get new features
  • My personal workflows evolve
  • Reader feedback suggests improvements
  • New research or context becomes available

When an article is updated significantly, I include a “Last updated” note at the top. This helps readers know how current the information is and reinforces my commitment to accuracy.

Editorial Scope & Topics

Face Dragons focuses on practical systems, discipline, and intentional living. Content is created around the following areas of experience and expertise:

• GTD & productivity systems
• Second brain workflows (PKM, Zettelkasten, Obsidian, Logseq)
• Digital tools & free/open-source software for focus and knowledge management
• Martial arts and self-discipline (including Shaolin, Tai Chi & Taekwondo practice)
• Deep work, monk mode, and flow state strategies
• Lifestyle design, digital nomadism, digital minimalism, and purposeful habit building

These topics reflect areas I’ve practiced, studied, and coached others in over the past two decades.

Fact-Checking Practices

Before publishing any article, I review it against a personal fact-check checklist, asking:

  1. Are all factual claims backed by personal knowledge or sources?
  2. Are any assumptions clarified or explained?
  3. Are external sources credible and current?
  4. Would this post hold up under scrutiny from someone in the field?
  5. Have any past inaccuracies or ambiguities been corrected?

Code of Ethics & Core Values

Integrity over virality — I publish what’s useful, not what’s trendy.
Experience-backed advice — I only write what I’ve lived, tested, or built.
Transparency always — I disclose affiliations, update outdated posts, and welcome corrections.
Respect for readers — I value your time and attention. Every article aims to reward it.
Independence — No pay-for-placement, and no writing to please sponsors.
